Highly Specialist Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist
We have new post of Highly Specialist Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist and are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Clinical Physiologist to join our team. This has been created by the soon to be opened Community Diagnostic Centre in Cumbria. The successful applicants will play a key role in shaping the Respiratory and Sleep diagnostic service.
Main duties of the job
You will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle but also rotate to the Community Diagnostic Centre in Workington. It is expected that you will work closely with the Cardio-Respiratory Departmental Head as well as the Respiratory Consultants to provide a high quality and effective service. You will be expected to demonstrate significant experience and train other staff in a wide range of respiratory and sleep investigations.

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • MSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent experience at this level).
- • Further qualification or equivalent experience to postgraduate diploma or equivalent.
- • ARTP part 1 and 2.
- • Evidence of ongoing CPD.
Desirable criteria
- • ILS or equivalent
- • Leadership/ Management related qualification.
- • Mentorship Qualification
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- • Post qualification experience of performing and reporting specialist lung function testing in a range of settings to inform decision making regarding subsequent treatment options
- • Experience setting up and scoring 3 channel home sleep studies
- • Experience in counselling patients on starting Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy including DVLA regulations
- • Experience in interpreting polysomnography.
- • Ability to make clinical decisions safely
- • Staff management
- • Experience of delivering service change.
- • Experience of teaching and training physiologist to associate and practitioner level
Desirable criteria
- • Experience in performing and interpreting Cardio Pulmonary Exercise testing (CPEX).
