Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Colorectal Nurse Specialist (Band 6) to join our dynamic surgical nursing team in North Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting patients and families affected by colorectal disease, including cancer, while working across two hospital sites.
As a Colorectal Nurse Specialist, you will:

Provide expert nursing care, education, and emotional support to patients and their families.

Work autonomously, managing your own caseload while also collaborating closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.

Deliver evidence-based care and contribute to the ongoing development of the colorectal service.

Play a key role in data analysis and clinical audits, including input into the National Bowel Cancer Audit Program (NBOCAP).

Lead on teaching initiatives for nursing and medical students, healthcare assistants, and community staff.

Participate in relevant research and clinical trials to improve patient outcomes.

We are seeking a dedicated Colorectal Nurse Specialist (Band 6) to lead and deliver expert, compassionate care to patients and families affected by colorectal cancer and disease. Working across hospital and community settings, you will provide holistic, nurse-led support from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up, addressing physical, psychological, and psychosexual needs. This autonomous role includes running independent clinics, coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team, offering counselling, breaking bad news sensitively, and contributing to service development. You'll also assess, diagnose, and manage care, act as a key point of contact for patients, and support ongoing education and collaboration across teams.

- Registered nurse with current registration
- ENB998 or equivalent

- Further relevant postgraduate development to diploma/ deqree equivalent
