IT Support Technician - Primary Care up to 37.5 hours per week

Do you love supporting others in the use of IT?  Are you interested in an IT career within the NHS? We’re looking for an IT Support Technician to support GP Surgeries and associated staff. 

You will be working as part of the IT team comprising of remote and field based staff, deploying equipment and resolving IT problems for staff who rely on IT to deliver effective patient care across North Cumbria. We’ll need you to draw on your technical skills to deliver the best possible service to our customers.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of this role is to prepare and deploy IT equipment to General Practice sites across North Cumbria as well as ensuring equipment retired is disposed of correctly.

Working as a member of a small primary care support team the role will be predominantly field based.  Whilst the area of focus will be primary care there will be a requirement to assist other NHS users to meet service needs.  There will occasionally be a requirement to provide remote technical support to meet service need.

In relation to all aspects of the role there will be an expectation to contribute to the department’s knowledge of primary care support.  This will include creating, reviewing and updating documentation as well as the informal training of colleagues to share and develop their knowledge.

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2nd December and the new cost will be

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above, including Maths and English
  • Degree in an IT related subject or in-depth knowledge gained through working in a corporate IT Environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of professional body
  • Microsoft Certification (MTA, MCSA, MCSE)
  • ITIL v3 Foundation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent, experience in a relevant IT Support role
  • Troubleshooting and resolving IT hardware and software issues
  • Equipment relocation & deployment supporting site/dept/office moves
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Configuring, supporting and deploying Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Configuring, supporting and deploying Microsoft Windows based applications, including Office
