Job overview

This is a fixed term post to provide backfill for an internal secondment

Applications are sought from highly motivated individuals to support the delivery of a portfolio of clinical trials and other research studies. The successful applicant will be expected to work across a range of clinical specialties, including cardiovascular, acute medicine, anaesthetics and surgery, matching skill-set and experience wherever possible. The post holder will work closely with the local Clinicians, Clinical Departments, fellow Research Practitioners, Administrators, Researcher Team Leaders and R&D Manager in developing and maintaining the research infrastructure to support, promote and organise patient recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data. They will also be required to provide research support and information for research staff, patients, volunteers and relatives as appropriate.

Additionally, the post holder will be expected to assist in the coordinating of research delivery amongst a group of research staff in terms of leading huddles, assigning work and ensuring workloads are covered during periods of leave/absence within the group. 

This post involves patient contact and does not involve laboratory activities. We are looking for a highly motivated person with interest in hands-on clinical research, gained clinical experience, and have relevant post registration employment.

Main duties of the job

 The post holder will be expected to be able to work on research studies with minimal support and training.  The post holder will also be expected to assist in the coordinating of research delivery amongst a group of research staff in terms of leading huddles, assigning work and ensuring workloads are covered during periods of leave/absence within the group.

Day to day activities will include;

  • assisting in the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data
  • working closely with the local clinicians, clinical research team and R&D Manager in developing and maintaining the research infrastructure to support, promote and organise patient recruitment
  • providing research support and information for staff, patients, volunteers and relatives as appropriate.

The role is able to meet the requirements for registration with professional bodies for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse, midwife or allied healthcare professional or a Degree in biological, biomedical or related health sciences subject.
