''Creating a great place to be cared for and a great place to work''

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay has a firm commitment to strengthening the diversity of our workforce, and therefore welcome and encourage applications from likeminded people who can support our ambition to become effortlessly inclusive. We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly and supportive team in a district general hospital on the edge of the Lake District.
The post would ideally be suited to a newly or recently qualified dietitian wishing to expand their dietetic skills and knowledge. Applications from students expecting to graduate in the near future will also be considered.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of a team, with the support of experienced dietitians. The post covers a range of inpatient work including medical, surgical, orthopaedics, oncology and stroke management as well as outpatient clinics.  As such you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas such as nutrition support, enteral feeding, gastroenterology and weight management. Opportunities to gain experience in dietetic specialist areas will be supported where appropriate.

The department is approved for training both ‘2’ and ‘3’ placement dietetic students.  We have excellent IT facilities and are committed to personal development and training

Applicants should be HCPC registered dietitians. The post will be based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, but may require travel to other sites within the Trust.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals; Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) in Lancaster,  Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

RLI and FGH have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
