- Consultant Ophthalmologist - Glaucoma / General Ophthalmology 

This is an exciting opportunity to be working as part of a dedicated team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust delivering high quality ophthalmic care to the population of the Morecambe Bay Area.

The development of Better Care Together, a partnership approach between the Trust, Clinical Commissioning Groups and local health and care providers to review how patient services are delivered in the hospital and community. Together we have created a vision and strategic plan for the future.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) consists of three main hospital sites, Westmorland General in Kendal, Furness General in Barrow-in-Furness and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The successful applicant will be based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary with the scope to work cross bay occasionally to meet the needs of the service. But routine work will be mostly based at RLI with Theatre being based in Westmorland General Hospital Kendal .The Lake District is quite probably the most beautiful region in England and not surprisingly the National Park is the most visited in the country. Holiday makers are attracted here by the stunning scenery, the wealth of leisure activities and the multitude of good places to eat and drink. But why holiday here when you could be living and working here?

The Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, and Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care.

UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.

You will be contracted for 10 programmed activities per week. There is an on call element to the role.

You must hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and entry on Specialist Register or in the receipt of CCT within six months of interview
