Urgent Treatment Centre Receptionist (Penrith)

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

UTC Receptionist, Emergency Care, Penrith Hospital, Penrith

Based at the Urgent Treatment Centre, Penrith; a self-motivated Receptionist/Administrative Assistant is required to join the Emergency Care Team, supporting clinical staff.

Essentially, you will have good IT knowledge and be able to demonstrate a high degree of customer care skills. It is essential that you can apply good judgement skills while under pressure and be able to empathise with our patients. Experience of working in a healthcare setting would therefore be desirable, but not essential.

You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work as a team player, but have the ability to work on your own initiative, under pressure whilst remaining calm.

You must be able to assist in covering a 7 day a week rota, between 8.00 and 22.00.  There may be an occasional need for cross site working at our Keswick UTC site also.  Shifts are either 08.00-15.00  or 15.00-22.00.

Currently there is a 19.5 hour post and a 26 hour post on offer.

Main duties of the job

Provide an efficient service for the reception of patients and their relatives and aid in the smooth running of the Urgent Treatment Centre and Scheduled Care Unit.  There will be a requirement to assist nursing staff with non-nursing duties, whilst dealing  with enquiries from patients, medical staff and the general public.
