Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North Cumbria Physiotherapy Service as a Senior Physiotherapist leading our In‑Patient Stroke Rehabilitation Team.
You will provide highly specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients following a stroke, while developing and delivering a high‑quality rehabilitation service. As team lead, you will support and guide physiotherapists to ensure excellent patient care and smooth progression along the stroke a pathways.
You will work closely with the in‑patient MDT and collaborate with the Stroke & Neuro Rehab Team at the Cumberland Infirmary, as well as Community Neuro Physio and ESSDT teams, to provide coordinated and effective rehabilitation.

Essential criteria
- Chartered Society of Physiotherapy recognised degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
- Health and Care Professions Council registered.
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Desirable criteria
- MSc in physiotherapy.

- Awareness of current initiatives within the Local and National health economy.
- Advanced clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of practice relating to stroke and neuro rehab.
- In depth knowledge of a wide range of current, evidence based, therapeutic strategies (relevant Stroke).
- Evidence of CPD.
- Knowledge of quality issues and CQC.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge and application of clinical governance to work practice.

- Evidence effective leadership skills and training undertaken
- Recent evidence of using audit tools.
- Recent evidence of leading service development
- Awareness of key NHS drivers (Nationally and Locally) for change and implications for physiotherapy services in Stroke and neuro rehab including the NHS Long Term Plan.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership skills
Desirable criteria
- Responsibility for an area of work, e.g. health & safety, in-service training, clinical audit, R&D.
