Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust requires a highly motivated reliable and flexible Plumber/Mechanical Maintenance Craftsperson to work as a key member of the Estates Team the the West Cumberland Hospital. The successful candidate will play a proavtive role within the team, delivering key objectives to meet both departmental and Trust requirements.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for Planned Preventative Maintenance, fault finding and repairs on a wide range of plumbing systems and engineering equipment including hot and cold water systems, heating systems, air conditioning, ventilation, Building Management Systems and medical gas pipeline systems. Work may include activities which are complex and non-routine which will require the post holder to assess and evaluate each situation and breakdown.
The successful candidate will be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime to achieve work that cannot be completed in normal hours as well as covering gaps on the shift rota.
The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of the on-call team, part of a rota to be on the phone and available to attend site out of normal working hours to help shift colleagues with issues that they are not able to fix and cannot wait until the next day, to maintain the continuity of the service to the site.
The successful candidate will need to work in such a way as to comply with statutory regulations, as well as Trust safety standards and procedures.
The successful candidate will also need to hold a full UK manual driving license and be able to drive department vehicles.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Completed a recognised time served apprenticeship or equivalent
- Minimum NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or Mechaical trade
