Have you ever thought of becoming an expert in foot and lower limb conditions?
Why not undertake a 3-year Royal College of Podiatry accredited Podiatry Apprenticeship, with Plymouth University and North Cumbria NHS trust. Combining vocational work-based learning with study for a university degree. Apprenticeships offer a higher education qualification, a salary and invaluable practical experience and employment skills.
The apprenticeship will have 1-day per week (a working day) as academic study through Plymouth University virtual platform. The apprentice will also undertake 1000 hours of clinical practice placements in a variety of settings within North Cumbria.
The work based learning will involve assisting the podiatry team in the delivery of the podiatry service throughout North Cumbria and support the development of the service provided to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC).
Main duties of the job
- With supervision, support and appropriate training provide podiatry interventions to patients under the care of the podiatry department.
- To undertake evidence based assessment, treatment and discharge of appropriate patients as delegated by registered podiatrist.
- Monitor podiatric care plans and actions to ensure that appropriate foot health education is provided.
- To communicate podiatry information to individuals, carers and staff where there may be barriers to communication and understanding.
- Possess the required knowledge and communication skills to encourage and assist patients to follow the recommended podiatry care plan e.g. motivation, persuasion and negotiating skills.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE minimum grade C/4 (or accepted equivalent) in mathematics and English
