Job overview
A new role within the Digital Directorate, the Digital Innovation Lead will work as part of the WAST Digital Team creating innovative digital solutions which will have a significant impact on the delivery of our Digital Strategy and directly impacting on patients and staff.
This role is integral to enabling a more user-centred, inclusive and problem-first approach to digital innovation and transformation, enhancing adoption of digital solutions and measuring impact of our initiatives early on to inform scale up or decommissioning decisions.
The Digital Innovation Lead will typically support a number of live digital innovation projects simultaneously. Projects will vary in scale and complexity resulting in innovations that vary from a small number of weeks to a number of months in duration.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
They will lead on the design and implementation of solutions that form part of the newly refreshed Digital Strategy impacting on a wide range of operational, clinical and business systems fundamentally important to the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS University Trust. Solutions may be in house tools and applications, better optimising what we already have or procurement of new products.
The Digital Innovation Lead will lead on day-to-day management of various digital support across WAST, including the digital innovation lab, design and implementation of a digital innovation training package and creating the environment to utilise flexible and innovative procurement in line with new legislation.
This role is part of our new dynamic Digital Innovation and Transformation Team at the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS University Trust. This team is at the forefront of driving our digital transformation strategy, focusing on innovative solutions to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. We aim to optimise existing processes while integrating new technologies to deliver impactful, scalable improvements. Our team prioritises user experience and service design, ensuring that our solutions are intuitive, inclusive, and accessible. Additionally, this team will support change management, continuous improvement, and evaluation to foster a culture of ongoing development and excellence.
