Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a CT Specialist development post Band 5 - Band 6. The post holder will begin at Band 5 level and be trained with full preceptorship with a view to progress to Band 6 within 18 months dependent on experience.

This is an opportunity for anyone who  wishes to join our large and friendly team. We expect the post holder to already possess excellent patient care skills and be ready and willing to learn the complex modality of CT  whilst continuously learning and supporting our team.

These vacancies will allow the successful candidates to work at all of our UHDB (University hospitals of Derby and Burton) sites. This post will be based at the Queens Hospital Burton Site and include rotation to some / all of our CDC Sites, including  Sir Robert Peel at Tamworth, Ilkeston Community Hospital and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We provide CT scans using state of the art GE CT scanners covering a wide range of diagnostic examinations including CTCs and Cardiac. 

The post holder will join our large and friendly team, and quickly become an integral part of our expanding service. The CT services are operational 7 days a week.

The post holder will be expected to take part in out-of-hours work including on-call.

Education, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements

Essential criteria
  • BSc Hons or Equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
Desirable criteria
  • PG Certificate in specialist area
  • To be able to demonstrate previous post registration experience
  • PG training in CT
  • IV injecting course

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable enhanced IT knowledge in the use of Computerised Radiography
  • To be able to demonstrate the use of radiography equipment
  • Demonstrable experience in the handling of patients
  • Demonstrable experience in the manipulation of specialist CT equipment
  • Demonstrable experience in the cannulation of patients for injection
  • Demonstrable Problem solving skills
Desirable criteria
  • Previous Cross sectional experience

Planning and Organising Skills

Essential criteria
  • To have the ability to assess patient condition in order to achieve quality radiographic results
  • Basic keyboard skills, IT knowledge, manipulation of radiography equipment, moving and handling of patients, to be able to manipulate specialist CT/MRI equipment
