Fire Safety Co-Ordinator

Job overview
DSFs are looking to recruit an experienced Fire safety Co-ordinator on a 15 hour a week contract, that can provide expert advice to the Head of Health and Safety on fire safety and Health & Safety management and compliance.
Provide expert Fire & Health and Safety guidance to all “Trust / DSFS “ working groups and committees as required
Support Trust/DSFS development and improvement of fire safety policies and procedures, by proactively managing the implementation of the changes across all other Trust and DSFS departments as required through to confirmation of completion.

Main duties of the job
Record, provide and present monthly reports based on analysis of statistical fire safety and training data to meet the internal requirements for service assurance and completion of actions arising to satisfy external legislatory and enforcement body requirements.
Completion of review and arising works to currently installed firefighting appliances, signage and evacuation notification meet as a minimum the current fire safety requirements.
Initiate contact with local Fire Service to required levels of interaction are sufficient, deployment roles and practices between the trust and the brigade meet at least the minimum requirements of legislation, working practices and responsibilities between trust employees and the brigade in an emergency is fully understood.
Develop procedures and programmes and complete fire risk assessments to the required frequencies and standards.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- • Possession of a recognised fire qualification to Diploma level (3 years) or proof of a minimum 5-year operational fire brigade experience with documented CPD
- • IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Safety Management Qualification
Desirable criteria
- • Knowledge/experience of practical fire safety management
- • Degree level qualification in related field
- • Teaching Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- • 5 years operational experience of practical fire safety and training.
- • Undertaking of Fire Risk Assessments in a complex environment
- • Experience of implementation of strategies, policies and procedures
- • Experience in managing budgets
- • Experience in staff and management of contractors
Desirable criteria
- • Hospital /NHS work environment experience
- • Experience in fire specialist contractor management
- • Working knowledge of HTM’s with regard to Fire Safety
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Detailed knowledge of fire systems and associated legislation and guidance
- • Evidence of fire risk assessment training
- • Experience and knowledge of financial management of budgets
- • Ability to produce risk-based reports with financial investment recommendations
- • Practical training and presentation skills
- • Experience of General Health and Safety Management and specialist implementation of that guidance
- • Apply specialist knowledge of the fire safety legislation and guidance including experience of practical implementation of those guidelines within a complex healthcare environment
- • Ability to understand and manage complex situations that require a degree of interpretation and prioritise the resulting actions to effectively manage the issues raised
