Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, working across the Gastroenterology/General medicine unit with primary focus on the ward.
This role will enable an ST3+ or equivalent level doctor to consolidate knowledge, skills, and confidence to enable future career progression, including achievement of requirements for application to specialty training. The minimum skill requirement is 4 years of post-graduate experience.
This post will support delivery of:
A clinical supervisor will be allocated and will provide support for the duration of the placement including helping you develop a portfolio and complete SLEs to evidence learning and training.
Proactive patient management to achieve timely and high-quality assessment and care.
Timely investigations and interventions managed in accordance with departmental protocols and guidelines.
Referral of patients to other specialties and services as required.
Provision of out of hours cover, under the supervision of the consultant on-call.
· Involvement in multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
Participation in teaching and training for junior doctors and medical students, including involvement in their educational assessments, and education of other health care professionals.
Active involvement in audit and the development of departmental services and strategies.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent.
- MRCP part 1
- Full GMC registration, with license to practise.
Desirable criteria
- Full MRCP
- ALS, provider certification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 4 years post-graduate clinical experience (2 of which to relate to relevant specialty).
- Knowledge and current experience of the NHS.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching delivery experience (any modality) to UG medical students.
- Evidence of completing audit / quality improvement project and having implanted change to practice
- Completion of IMT training or equivalent Previous experience of working in general medicine
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good understanding of the secondary care environment
- Ability to confidently manage a broad range of General medicine medical presentations
- Evidence of reflective practice.
