Job overview
To deliver case notes for out of hours admission within the 1-hour target; updating the Patient Administration System (PAS) with admissions and discharges. This role involves working independently and often alone .
Ensuring internal and external calls are handled. The post involves handling confidential information and therefore, the post holder must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Main duties of the job
Using the Patient Administration system (PAS) admit and discharge.
Register all babies and any new patients not previously registered at this hospital
Create new case notes or additional case note volumes as required.
Locate and retrieve any missing notes using the Patient Tracker system.
Update patient details and admission details on the PAS system. Action telephone calls from the Wards and A&E regarding emergency admissions. Also dealing with queries from external calls, including other emergency services, care providers and patients relatives. Receive telephone enquiries from the public and outside bodies (i.e Police, Social Services, DSS etc.) Retrieve case notes from off-site areas for admissions.
Process information as out-lined in the “Notification of Death” procedure.
Any other duties which may be delegated from time to time.
To be familiar and comply with relevant Operational, Personnel, Health and Safety Policies and procedures, including Fire, COSHH, No Smoking and Alcohol.
