Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine to join our dynamic and evolving team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role aims to expand our establishment of Acute Physicians to twelve.
Within the department our consultants have a range of CCTs, skills and specialist interests including acute medicine, respiratory, renal, geriatrics, emergency medicine, USS/ECHO, endoscopy and education. As such the specific responsibilities of this position can be tailored in consultation with the care unit team to align with personal interests and professional goals, and we would consider applicants with a range of specialist interests or CCTs.
The appointed individual will be a key member of the Medicine and Emergency Care Division, reporting to the Divisional Director. They will be based in the EMU/Short stay/SDEC areas, providing senior decision-making and guidance to resident doctors, nurses, GPs, and other hospital departments, including the Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high quality direct and indirect clinical care.
Education, including clinical supervision and participation in team and service clinical meetings.
Engage in supporting professional activities such as audit and evaluation, teaching, clinical governance, and essential meetings.
Participate in continuous professional development, including fulfilling requirements for GMC revalidation and statutory and mandatory training.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCP/FRCP or equivalent
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
Desirable criteria
- Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty
- Higher degree
- Higher management training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients with acute and general medical problems
- Ability to organise and manage patient lists and priorities
- Quality/audit project experience.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a similar post
- Previous experience of using online patient record system e.g., SystmOne.
- Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education
- Transformation and Service Improvement experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Clinical supervision experience/skills
- Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
- Leadership skills.
- Organisational ability
