Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Physician General Medicine and Diabetes-Endocrinology to further develop our highly rated Diabetes services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity, and it is anticipated that there will be occasion for the appointee to develop a sub-specialty interest within the role.

The post will suit individuals with the desire and resolve to provide modern, high-quality care. We will also consider flexible working options, subject to the exigencies of the service.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • CCT in General Medicine and Diabetes-Endocrinology
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree
  • Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of diabetes/endocrinology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for CCT in Diabetes and Endocrinology and GIM
  • Experience of supervising Resident doctors
  • Experience of risk management and quality governance
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as an educational supervisor or clinical tutor
  • Clinical leadership experience or training
  • Higher management training
  • Experience in a similar post

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to organise and manage patient lists and priorities
  • General Medical skills in order to be able to participate in the GIM on-call rota
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of diabetes-endocrinology issues
