Job overview

This part time specialist oncology dietetic post at Chesterfield Royal Hospital is one of 2 new as the  Trust has provided substantive funding following the previous full time post funded for 2 years by Macmillan.

This is therefore an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian who has significant NHS experience and experience working with individuals living with and beyond cancer,  to develop the nutrition and dietetic cancer services.  The Trust currently employs a part time Oncology specialist part and a head and neck specialist Dietitian. This post will utilise the previous scoping work to shape the services for the other types of cancer treated at Chesterfield Royal Hospital as well as providing highly specialised nutrition and dietetic services.

The post holders will work alongside our team of 25 staff consisting of Dietitians, a Nutrition Support Nurse, Dietitian Assistants and Administrative staff.

Whilst all the team providing the nutrition and dietetic services across North Derbyshire are employed by and based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital service are provided at locations based on individual needs across the community. The Trust is fully supportive of remote and home working where this is appropriate for the role.

 

Main duties of the job

Job purpose  

       To provide a highly specialised comprehensive nutrition and dietetic service to individuals with adults living with or recovering form cancer and their carers across the North Derbyshire health community.

       To work with the Macmillan Lead cancer nurse, Macmillan information and support centre, patients and families and other key stakeholders to identify the required demand and gaps in current cancer pathways and service provision.

       To benchmark and research best practice to understand what nutrition & dietetic services would be of benefit to patients on defined cancer pathways.

       To support service redesign and development of new dietetic cancer services from the outcomes of the Macmillan post scoping, taking into account the ambitions of national NHS and cancer strategies.
