Job overview
The successful candidate will be working alongside the existing IBD Team to provide evidence based and quality care for those with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in North Derbyshire.

Main duties of the job
The IBD Team
Contributes to the delivery of outstanding patient care by:
· IBD Advice Line.
· Monitoring of blood results.
· Liaise with the appropriate Consultant as appropriate.
· Help co-ordinate Biologic patients’ care on the Medical Day Case Unit.
· Review of patients attending Medical Day Case for Biologic treatments as necessary.
· Communicate effectively with members of the IBD MDT and the wider IBD Team including GPs.
· Review / support IBD inpatients.
· Assist with the IBD Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, prepping medical notes and ensuring the agreed outcomes are achieved and the patients communicated with.
· Face-to-face IBD clinics and review of patients independently.
· Preparation of medical notes and attend the monthly Virtual Biologic MDT (IBDVC), and agreed outcomes communicated with the patients appropriately.
· Input the Blueteq System (high-cost drugs database).
· Assist with the IBD audit and service improvement initiatives.
· IBD Health Education and Promotion – ensuring all resource material is up to date, sustained and displayed appropriately.
· Support newly diagnosed patients in the Endoscopy Department as necessary.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RGN
- First level degree or working towards in related subject
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Masters level learning or prepared to work towards
- Experience of audit and research
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
- Advanced physical Assessment and Consultation Skills Module
- Advanced communication skills training
- Teaching qualification or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration experience at Band 5 or above in Gastroenterology / IBD care
- Skills to implement / facilitate and care for patients / families with complex IBD
- Clinical exposure
- A minimum of 6 months IBD experience
- Experience of multi-professional working
- Evidence of advanced communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
