Job overview

You will join our team of 17 Consultants based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, providing high quality services for patients across North Derbyshire and the surrounding area.

We are seeking someone whose skills complement those already in place in the department, whilst looking to take on or develop an area of special interest. Cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology, contributing to the on-call rota both in an out of hours is expected. 

An ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice or equivalent is required. Additional ATSM/SITM or similar accreditations in other special interest areas are desirable, such as high risk obstetrics or maternal medicine. T

The role would suit an obstetric-leaning consultant and - in the interests of transparency - the Trust cannot offer sufficient gynaecology work to the successful candidate to maintain or develop skills in gynaecology, other than on call gynaecology.

You will provide assessment, care and treatment of emergency patients presenting to the Maternity and Gynaecology department. You will have the ability to work as an effective team member, providing clinical leadership for our clinical teams, and engaging fully with the wider health professional teams.

We are looking for someone with experience who will, along with colleagues, can advise on the efficient and smooth running of the service, influence future service developments, and take opportunities to further develop excellent care for our patients.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
  • ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward practice or equivalent
  • ntry on the GMC Specialist Register or training to a level commensurate with the award of CCST/HPT or eligibility for entry on the specialist register of the GMC within 6 months of advisory appointments committee
  • Full registration with GMC
Desirable criteria
  • Other training/ATSMs to demonstrate specialist interests
  • ATSM/SITMs showing advanced obstetrics competencies

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Wide range of experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Wide experience in proven leadership and teaching experience
  • Quality/audit project experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Management training/experience
  • Experience of clinical leadership

Skills

Desirable criteria
  • Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education
