Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in neurology / neurodisability to join our highly rated Paediatric department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.  

We provide high-quality patient centred care, maintain excellent team working, resilience, and have developed effective, close working relationships with other colleagues across the Network.

Your job plan will involve provision of services in neurodisability and epilepsy. An interest in other Paediatric subspecialities such as children in care is welcomed and candidates are encouraged to discuss further opportunities with team. There will also be leadership opportunities in all areas of the job role for an interested candidate. 

The Children in Care team provides an efficient and high-performing service for initial health assessments, adoption panels and advisory panels.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MRCPCH
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 safeguarding competency
  • Experience in Community Paediatrics
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Ability to teach clinical skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Epilepsy paediatric interest/ experience.
  • Experience in Children in Care
  • Experience in NHS management
  • RCPCH supervision course
  • Sound knowledge of multiple NHS structure and systems.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • IT literate.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Ability to clinically supervise junior staff.
  • Participation in audit and quality improvement projects
