Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an assistant to join our pharmacy homecare and procurement team responsible for the purchasing of medicines for the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 

The procurement team mange the ordering of over £20 million worth of medicines each year. We are looking for someone with the right skills and attention to detail who is an excellent team player, hardworking and enthusiastic to participate in and support the provision of our services.

Main duties of the job

To oversee the safe and efficient process of invoicing used by the hospital, undertaking a broad range of administrative and technical duties in the pharmacy purchasing office and store.

A good general understanding of IT systems is essential as the majority of our invoicing and stock management systems are electronic. You will also be expected to be able to update excel spreadsheets and competently interact with other Microsoft applications.

You will be contributing to the maintenance of a good stock control system within the Pharmacy department, as well as participating in the provision of a high standard of service within the Pharmacy Stores, Procurement and Distribution department.

These are the key areas that support the purpose of the job.

  • To oversee the processing of homecare and procurement invoices and to resolve any associated queries. 

• To undertake the placing of routine and ad-hoc pharmacy orders, in accordance with the defined daily routine.

 • To undertake invoice processing, in accordance with agreed timescales, ensuring that deviations from predicted purchase price are investigated.

 • To participate in planned and ad hoc stock taking activity in the pharmacy store.

 • To assist with general clerical duties, including post, filing, answering the telephone, photocopying, and document management

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A-C /or Grade 4-9 in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • Level 2 NVQ Pharmacy Services

Experience

  • Previous experience in a hospital environment
