Job overview
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, efficient and friendly person to be part of the reception team at Castle Street Medical Centre.
As a key member of the practice, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a high standard of customer service both face-to-face and over the phone.
Your responsibilities will include managing appointment bookings, handling patient enquiries, updating records, processing prescriptions, and supporting the clinical team with day to day administrative tasks. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the surgery and delivering excellent patient care in line with DCHS values.
This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment. Experience in a receptionist or administrative role, particularly within the NHS, is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the busy switchboard and reception area. To provide a friendly, helpful and professional service.
- Provide comprehensive reception clerical duties.
- Open premises; prepare to receive patients at the published opening time.
- Deal with telephone and face-to-face requests for appointments, home visits, enquiries for test results and record relevant messages for clinicians and practice manager
- Check emails and process tasks, workflow and electronic communications
- Undertake any training and attend staff meetings as required such as mandatory training
- Deal with payments from patients
- Undertake any other reasonable duty that may be required and agreed with the management team
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Support the clinical team with administrative tasks as required
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies
- Assist in the smooth running of the surgery and contribute to a positive patient experience
