We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual to join our busy payroll and pensions team.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to start a career in payroll while gaining hands on experience and working towards a recognised payroll qualification.  You will be part of a team within the Finance department that provides a payroll and pension service to Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services Ltd.
Both in-house and external training will be given for you to progress to take responsibility for your own payroll section.

•    Under the supervision of the Payroll/Senior Payroll Officers you will take responsibility of your own payroll section, prioritising and organising your workload to meet strict deadlines 
•    Under the supervision of the Payroll/Senior Payroll Officers you will manage your own workload to help deliver an accurate and quality payroll service.  This will include the input, checking and processing of payroll information
•    Under the supervision of the Payroll/Senior Payroll Officers you will respond to pay queries from staff and managers
•    Under the supervision of the Payroll/Senior Payroll Officers you will provide advice and support on pay related matters to our customers, including staff members and managers across the organisation
•    Develop and maintain working relationships with other internal departments and external agencies

•    Take part in apprenticeship training and apply your learning to the workplace

Qualifications and Training

  • • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)
  • • Mathematics & English (Grades A-C or 4-9)
  • • Willingness to complete a recognised payroll apprenticeship programme and associated learning requirements

Experience

  • • An interest in payroll and finance
  • • Ability to carry out basic administrative tasks accurately, including data entry and filing
  • • Understanding of the importance of providing a helpful, professional and responsive service to all stakeholders

  • • Previous relevant office experience
  • • Experience of working in a busy environment

Skills and Knowledge
