Job overview

DSFS Ltd are looking to recruit into the role of Lead Theatre Porter.

As part of the multidisciplinary team within the Operating Department the post holder will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation and smooth running of the department. They will accomplish this by ensuring the facilitation of timely movement of patients between the wards and the Operating Department as directed and assisting with the movement and maintenance of equipment and materials both within the department and the hospital in general. 

Main duties of the job

Collect blood as and when required.

Review the team rota on a day-to-day basis to ensure correct and safe staffing levels and appropriate skills mix.

 Day to day management of leave and absence, including carrying out return to work interviews up to and including stage 1 and 2 absence reviews.

Actively manage staffing, review the need for staff recruitment, workforce planning and succession planning in cooperation with the faculties manager and Theatre Matron’s

Play an active part in the recruitment process, workforce planning and staff support for the ODO Team.

 Ensure there is a nominated Team Leader to cover any absence and that they are aware of what is expected of them in that role.

Monitor, action, investigate and implement any changes necessary from Datix Reports

Constantly review the service, to identify areas of service improvement in relation to quality, efficiency and effectiveness.

 Act as representative for the ODO Team at the Theatre Workforce Meeting and any other relevant meetings.
