Job overview

We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join our team as a Kitchen Porter.

Working across two sites, you will be required to provide the highest standards of hygiene within the Catering Department areas.

Based at the Radbourne Unit, Derby there will be times when you will be required to work at the Kingsway Hospital, Derby.  You will also be required to drive electric vehicles to deliver food trolies and refreshments to external buildings as part of your daily routine.  A full driving licence will therefore be required.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing high standards of hygiene within the Catering Department areas, adhering to cleaning work schedules.
  • Ensuring safe delivery of food and meals to wards on the Radbourne Site, Derby.
  • Drive electric vehicles, within the hospital grounds, delivering food trollies to external buildings.
  • Cleaning the kitchen and associated areas, refrigerators and food stores to required standards.
  • Specialist cleaning of Catering equipment eg industrial fryers.
  • Washing up utensils, pots and crockery used by staff and patients as required.
  • Delivery of meals and goods to all areas and collection of pots, goods and other items.
  • Unloading and unpacking of all types of goods used within the catering department, placing in appropriate areas, e.g. refrigerators, deep freezers; observing strict stock rotation performance standards.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations are upheld by adhering to safe working practices.
  • Ensure vehicles are checked daily, completing required forms, ensuring defects are reported immediately to the catering supervisor, connecting electric vehicles to chargers.
  • Liaise with delivery drivers, performing banksman duties to ensure the provision and maintenance of a safe area for delivery vehicles to the store yard.
