Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our friendly dedicated catering team at the Kingsway and Radbourne units although you may be required to work at other local sites on occasion.
Catering Assistants within the hospital have a key role in maintaining a high standard of meal provision to patients, staff and visitors to the hospitals. You should have good organisational and communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work whilst demonstrating an ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a team.
This is a lovely team working environment with good benefits with 27 days annual leave plus BH and sick pay.

Main duties of the job
To be an integral member of the Catering Team ensuring the safe provision of Catering services to patients, staff and visitors.
Post involves working in the kitchen, restaurant, and coffee shops, and pot wash on a rota basis as required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Assisting with food service within the kitchen or with the supply of refreshments for meetings.
Help in the cleaning and wash up area with the washing of pots and pans. Including the operation of the dishwasher when required
Ensure that Health & Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations are upheld, in accordance with training and instruction provided.
Assisting in the operation of the HACCP system with the checking and recording of freezers, refrigerators and vending machines and hot and cold cabinets temperatures in line with Assured Safe Catering procedures.
Setting up meetings in meeting rooms/offices for the service of beverages or refreshments.
Cashier duties, ensuring that all goods are sold at correct prices and entered into the till under the correct codes when working in Restaurant and Coffee Shop.
Reconciling cash taken at the end of the shift and paying in daily monies to the cashier’s office when working in the Restaurant and Coffee shop.
Collection of dirty crockery from offices, meeting rooms and retail areas
Deliver and collection of food trolleys to and from wards
Preparation of salads and sandwiches for patients and retail and assisting with buffets as required.
Assist with the putting away of goods from suppliers when needed.
General cleaning duties
To undertake cleaning within the Catering Department to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained and COSHH regulations adhered to
Any other relevant duties as requested by the Catering Supervisor / Catering Manager.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
