Job overview
As an assistant cashier you will assist in the delivery of the provision of administrative and cashier services to patients, wards, relatives and other customers of the Trust. This includes but is not limited to providing an income and expenditure service, advisory services regarding the Trust's financial and administrative functions and security/safe custody of patient's property.
Main duties of the job
• Ensure all income received is accurately counted, receipted and banked in accordance with the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions.
• Administer a petty cash service for Wards and Departments, to advice on authorisation limits and the process regarding petty cash transactions.
• Maintain and implement effective security measures with the Cashier's Office for the control and handling of cash, patient's valuables, controlled stationery and lost property.
• The receipting and secure custody of Patient's property – maintaining appropriate records and safe return to authorised staff members.
• Provide information to patients, staff and the public regarding the Trust financial services in line with the Trust's SFI's and other regulations.
• The scrutiny & distribution of travel expense costs to patients who are in receipt of a qualifying benefit, in accordance with the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme.
• Payment of Samaritan Fund Loans and Social Work-Related cheques in conjunction with the Trusts Social Work department.
