Job overview

To work with new and existing in memory supporters and selected grateful care supporters to build relationships and motivate them, offering support to maximise income to the charity. To build relationships with funeral directors and other in memory providers enhancing the profile of the Charity's work and ensuring Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity is providing effective engagement. Deliver a pre-agreed incremental charity income growth year on year as part of an agreed five-year plan.

Main duties of the job

To be the first point of contact for new and existing in memory fundraisers and/or donors when they embark on fundraising activities or choose to donate to the charity.

To effectively build relationships with in memory and selected grateful care fundraisers to inspire and support them to achieve their fundraising and donation ambitions.

To work closely with local funeral directors and other in memory providers, to enhance the profile of the Charity’s work locally, and provide a first-class supporter journey to donors and fundraisers.

Ensure that supporters are recognised and valued for their achievements by ensuring they are kept informed of how their funding has helped the Trust, and where appropriate are made aware of additional funding opportunities.

To work closely with others in the fundraising team to help promote appropriate activities to supporters.

This includes engagement with stakeholders including members of the public, internal staff and departments as well as external organisations.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent diploma
  • Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in a customer service / supporter care role, providing excellent supporter service (email, letters, phone and face to face). Previous experience in developing accurate written materials and record keeping, using high attention to detail.
  • Experience of working with members of the public, listening to their requirements and providing support.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of fundraising, ideally in a charity setting in a target-based environment or equivalent experience in a corporate environment.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Experienced and effective team worker skilled at networking and establishing positive relationships and rapport with all stakeholders
