Job overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, flexible and motivated individuals to join our team in the Imaging Business Unit at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, at our Royal Derby Hospital site, as a Pathway Co-ordinator.

There are various roles available, both full time and part time working will be considered. 

You will be expected to support an efficient waiting list service to the Consultants and Registrars, in respect of NHS work; work flexibly with or alongside waiting list staff, Consultants and other clinical teams as required. To offer a supportive administrative service in our out of hours registrar reporting team.
Core skills/qualifications include IT literacy, good written and verbal communication skills, NVQ level III in Business Admin or equivalent experience and English Language and Maths at O’ level/GCSE (Grade C or 4/5 or above)

Full training will be given to the successful candidate.  Shortlisted candidates are encouraged to visit the department. 

Main duties of the job

To act as the single point of contact on behalf of the Consultant or Registrars in the out of hours reporting team, to the wards or A&E clinicians, for escalations and queries. Triage of queries via out of hours Registrar phone. 

To ensure all queries are resolved with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous and professional manner. You must be a confident communicator and able to liaise with clinicians, clinical staff and patients and be able to multi-task. 

You should also have demonstrable experience of working in a patient orientated environment, and be experienced in using similar setting I.T. systems. 

Out of hours support with dispatching clinical correspondence related to NHS medical patients within agreed timescales and quality standards. 

Escalation of urgent test results/correspondence is brought to the immediate attention of the Consultant/Registrar or his/her team.

Accurately informing clinicians of outcomes and information to influence the effective service delivery for all patients, including waiting list queries. 

Inputting information onto various IT systems.

Knowledge of Imaging IT systems (CRIS) and procedures would also be advantageous and an understanding of appointment/waiting list management with knowledge of Imaging key performance indicators, waiting times and 18 week referral to treatment policy.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in admin/clerical role including wide range of administration and clerical duties including waiting list management, secretarial support and answering telephone queries
  • Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously escalating where appropriate
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple tasks and ability to manage and prioritise own workload and work independently
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Imaging Department and IT systems used
  • Knowledge and experience working within a demanding and fast paced environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively - Including written,face to face and telephone
