Job overview

For the role of Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Home Enteral Feeding Team we are ideally looking for an individual with experience of leading a home enteral feeding team however, would welcome applications from current home enteral feeding dietitians who want to enhance their skills in leadership and  service development.

The Paediatric Home Enteral Feeding Team provide dietetic care to tube fed children across Southern Derbyshire. The team comprises of 1.0 WTE band 6 dietitians ,1 WTE Band 4 Assistant Practitioners, and admin support staff. The Home Enteral Feeding dietitians also works closely with the general paediatric dietitians for CPD, supervision and cover.  

The role is currently based at the Royal Derby Hospital however a move to Florence Nightingale Community Hospital may be considered in the future.

Main duties of the job

Our Home Enteral Feeding Team delivers high quality care to tube fed children across Southern Derbyshire. We offer a variety of patient contact including face to face clinics, telephone clinics, home visits and school visits. We work closely with a wide multidisciplinary team including Children's community nurses, consultants, GPs, Speech and Language Therapists and carers.  

You will lead the delivery of a comprehensive and effective evidence based dietetic service and be responsible for service development. You will be fully supported by the Team Lead and Dietetic Operational Leads. 

We have an established student training programme for A, B and C placements, in which you will participate, and the department encourages innovation, CPD and professional development.

Key Requirement of the Role:
 - Demonstrable experience working as a specialist paediatric home enteral feeding dietitian. Clinical Lead experience would be preferred but not essential.

 - Previous experience of service development.

 - Leadership experience, or a keen interest to develop leadership skills.

  • BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Member of BDA
  • Leadership/coaching qualifications

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstratable clinical leadership skills, organisational and professional skills
  • To be able to demonstrate Paediatric Home Enteral Feeding dietetic experience
  • To be able to demonstrate significant involvement in student training
  • To be able to demonstrate a good Understanding of Clinical Governance.
  • Able to demonstrate ways to deliver new ideas of working and delivering services
  • Good overall Dietetic knowledge
