Charity Digital Content and Design Officer

Job overview

The Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity team are passionate about sharing impactful fundraising stories, producing engaging content and linking with our community to drive support for our cause. We are seeking a creative and motivated Digital Design Officer to join our dynamic marketing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing stories, creating compelling visual and written content, and implementing effective digital marketing strategies to elevate our brand awareness and drive income. Key responsibilities include leading on content creation, supporting digital marketing campaigns, and acting as a guardian of the charity's brand.

Qualifications and Skills: We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in digital design, content creation, and marketing. Strong proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and knowledge of SEO best practices are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work under own authority, plan, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. Adaptability to work in a dynamic and busy office environment is also crucial.

Main duties of the job

  • Source stories and create compelling visual and written content, including short videos, social graphics, animations, printed collateral and other creative content, finding opportunities to showcase these stories capturing the attention of the public, existing and new supporters, corporate supporters, external stakeholders and the media.
  • Support the delivery of high-impact digital and e-mail marketing campaigns, utilising SEO-friendly web copy, eye-catching social media content and optimised landing pages to build brand awareness of our charity and drive income. 
  • Manage the Charity website, maintaining and updating pages to enhance the user journey.
  • Support with local story gathering trips, obtaining high quality photography, videography, and case studies from new and existing supporters, corporate supporters and frontline staff. 
  • As guardian of the charity's brand, implement, monitor and maintain an effective corporate brand style ensuring that all content produced are to a consistent high standard and meet both NHS guidelines and the charity’s corporate identity requirements.
  • Produce high quality marketing materials, managing relationships with printers and other agencies and suppliers.
  • Attend and support at internal and external events .
  • Use the latest technology/AI and design techniques to develop content for digital channels.

  • Excellent IT skills, especially with design (Adobe Creative Cloud) and photo-editing software.
