Job overview

An opportunity has evolved for a highly motivated band 6 midwife to progress the development of UHDB’s maternity infant feeding specialist support service.

The role is pivotal in supporting UHDB to continue and embed its UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Accreditation and be responsive to national infant feeding priorities that meet the educational and emotional needs associated with infant feeding for women and their families.

Alongside our Lead Specialist Midwife responsible for Infant Feeding the post holder will work at a multi-agency level to ensure the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly standards are fully integrated into our practice in a way that is both effective in the short term and sustainable. Working closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and with public health focus the successful applicant will promote a coordinated approach to support effective; evidence based infant feeding and parent-infant relationships.

Candidate needs current driving licence and access to a car.  

Main duties of the job

Delivering the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) standard.

We are looking for a committed, self-motivated, hardworking individual who would be able to drive forward our infant feeding policy and support staff to make the changes needed to implement BFI's best practice standards. Safeguarding compliance with the International Code of the Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes will be compulsory.
