Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our hard working and friendly cancer Pharmacy Team. The post-holders will support the Pharmacy Cancer Team with the provision of chemotherapy and supplementary medicines to patients.
We are currently seeking a reliable and conscientious individual to fill our role of Senior Pharmacy Assistant, this is a 20 month fixed term contract and post holder will be required to work cross site between Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queens Hospital, Burton (QHB).
Your duties will be rotational between both the chemotherapy dispensary and aseptic services.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake Level 2 GPHC recognised qualification applicable to the job role. Full training and development will be given in order to fulfil specialist duties.
These posts will include working evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
Dispensing of cytotoxic drugs and supportive medicines including clinical trail medication.
Provision of aseptically dispensed items including assembly of ingredients and consumables, sanitation of equipment and materials and the processing of products.
Participate in the cleaning schedule of clean rooms and support areas and equipment following defined standard operating procedures.
Undertake required assessment, validations and broth test as per departmental policy.

Education, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements
Essential criteria
- GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English or proven equivalent level of experience and knowledge within the same or similar role
- GPhC approved level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or willingness to work towards
Desirable criteria
- Required to undertake a Level 2 GPhC recognised qualification applicable to the job role
- NVQ 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- To be able to demonstrate good face to face customer service skills
- To be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant policies and procedures and to demonstrate the importance of these
- To be able to demonstrate knowledge of stock control systems
