Main duties of the job
Responsible, as part of a team, for the day-to-day management of patients on Kings Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit and in outpatient services for Rehabilitation Medicine patients
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients within the Rehabilitation Medicine service.
To share responsibility with colleagues for the day-to-day management of the patients on Kings Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit and in the rehabilitation pathways supporting this unit.
· Leadership to junior staff
· Shared role in delivery of teaching and training
· Active participation in quality improvement, audit and research activities of these services
· Keeping up to date and participating in continuing professional development
· Participation in annual appraisals

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Advanced Life Support certification by time of commencement of post
Desirable criteria
- Additional qualifications relevant to Rehabilitation Medicine, Neurology, or another relevant specialty. MRCP(UK), equivalent higher qualification or equivalent relevant experience
Eligibility
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice at time of application
- Completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training, or equivalent part-time/flexible training, including at least two years in Rehabilitation Medicine, Neurology, Geriatric Medicine
- Evidence of engagement in clinical governance and patient safety.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in neurorehabilitation, spasticity, complex disability, neuromuscular disease, MND, amputee rehabilitation or major trauma rehabilitation.
- Experience of inpatient rehabilitation or neurological rehabilitation inreach services.
- Minimum 6 months NHS experience within the last 2 years
Management and administrative experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of ability to organise and manage clinical workload, including inpatient reviews, referrals, outpatient activity and clinical administration.
- Commitment to continuing professional development, clinical governance and quality improvement.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of leadership, service development or management experience.
- Evidence of relevant academic, audit or research achievements
Teaching Expeience
Essential criteria
- Experience in teaching clinical skills to medical students, resident doctors or multidisciplinary colleagues.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching course or qualification. Experience supervising resident doctors, medical students or allied health professionals.
Language and communication skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of formal presentations
