We have an exciting opportunity within the Trust for the role of Crime & Violence Reduction Officer (North) and Crime & Violence Reduction Officer (Emergency Operations Centre).

Please note this role is Full Time for the CVRO (North) role and Part Time for the CVRO (EOC) role. 

Crime & Violence Reduction Officer (North) will cover Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, BNSSG and Somerset. 

Crime & Violence Reduction Officer (EOC) will cover both the Exeter and Bristol Emergency Operations Centres. 

Reporting to the Crime & Violence Reduction Manager, the Crime & Violence Reduction Officers will be the operational leads within their respective areas to keep our people safe, preventing and reducing abuse. 

This is an exciting time to lead the Trust's Public Health approach to violence prevention and reduction within their areas. 

The successful post holder will work closely with our Operational and EOC Management and Quality Teams to develop processes and systems for abuse reduction within our EOC.

Officers will lead key pieces of work relating to the NHS Violence Prevention & Reduction Standard and Serious Violence Duty whilst retaining operational oversight of incidents which occur within their area. 

Please note this role will be required to work bank holidays including over the Christmas period. 

Main duties of the job

- To proactively engage in national projects in support of the National Ambulance Security Group (NASeG) and also engage in local or regional security/violence reduction management groups. 

- To ensure that appropriate steps are taken to create a good culture within the Trust so that staff and patients accept responsibility for security/crime and violence reduction matters and ensure that any security or criminal incidents or breaches that occur are detected and reported.

- Collaborate with ICB’s, health partners and the police to influence policy and reduce violence towards colleagues.

- Challenge decisions where action has not been taken by the police or other criminal agencies when the post holder feels it should. 

- To work towards ensuring violence prevention and reduction forms part of the overall organisational strategy and workforce planning process

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Public Health and/or Clinical Qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Basic health and safety qualification i.e. IOSH Managing Safely
  • Registered health care professional
  • Teaching or education qualification
  • Information governance qualification

Previous experience (Paid/Unpaid relevant to job)

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience relating to crime and violence reduction
  • Significant work experience within a multi-site / complex organisation.
  • Experience of setting objectives, developing policies and strategies in relation to crime and violence reduction.
  • Experience of analysing complex and sensitive information and presenting to a wide range of audiences including senior level.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Experience in confronting challenging issues taking a problem solving approach to ensure proactive and effective resolution.
  • Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes.
  • Experience of liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence colleagues, effecting change and development at all levels within the Trust and externally.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of security/abuse/BWV in the ambulance sector.
  • Experience of abuse/crime/security in the NHS and a good understanding of governance processes and systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Evidence of experience and understanding in managing areas covered by role brief.
