Supply and Delivery Controller

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

There has never been a better time to join the Trust's Supply and Delivery Service as a Supply and Delivery Controller. We have two positions available - one full time permanent and the other a 12 month fixed term contract. Last November we finished the roll out of a new scanning system to manage the consumables both on site and out at station, so crews don't need to spend time ordering stocks from us. This is now done by us against agreed min/max stock levels. It's been going really well and saving crews time. We are now looking at refining processes, reducing stock holding across all sites.

The role of the Supply and Delivery Controller is also a gateway to the organisation with opportunities to develop your career with us either within the Supply and Delivery Service or the wider Trust in both patient-facing and a variety of support roles.

Main duties of the job

You will play a critical role in supplying our front line staff with medical consumables, personal protection equipment and medicines as part of a fully managed stock replenishment service to stations. Based in Exeter, covering the south of the Trust. This position involves driving, stock checking, and stock ordering using a hand held scanning device so being able to work on your own initiative is essential for this role. There is also a physical element including the lifting of boxes, pushing of loaded cages and the movement of palatalised goods.

Previous stock experience and knowledge is advantageous whilst driving experience, excellent planning and organisational skills and being a good communicator are essential for this position. Good IT skills would also be desirable. Role specific training will be provided.

Working for our organisation

Working for us is an experience like no other.  We provide emergency and urgent care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, operating across the largest ambulance region in England and responding to an average of 2,650 incidents every day.

We remain committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible care for all our patients, which is reflected in our new five-year strategy which has continually improving patient care at its very core.

The role is based in Exeter, one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England, with excellent transport links and a great mix of independent shops, cafes and bars.

If you embody our values of one team, compassionate and innovative and are looking to make a real difference to peoples’ lives, then we would love to hear from you.

In return we will equip you with the skills and resources you need to thrive in your role.

You will have opportunities to progress to roles across the Trust and enjoy continuous professional development.
