Patient Flow Coordinator - HOLDING POOL - INTERNAL ONLY

Job overview

Vacancy is for a holding pool until a position becomes available.

The Patient Flow Coordinator is a key role within the  structure of the Operations Delivery Centre and as such experience within an emergency service is essential particularly a control room environment. 

Through speaking with our crews and using data from the Hospital Handover Dashboard and other external metrics you will be responsible for assisting the flow of operational resources to the most suitable Acute Hospital and will manage handover data quality.

Through consistent interpretation of the Resource Availability Dashboard and liaison with operational resources you will identify and seek to overcome barriers to patient care to maximise availability and uphold the principle that no patient should wait unnecessary for an ambulance.

The Patient Flow Coordinator will report to the Service Delivery Officer and develop key relationships with the Trusts Hospital Ambulance Liaison Officers (HALOs), Operations Support Advisers, Community Response Coordinators and wider EOC colleagues.

You will be routinely interacting with our ambulance crews on the radio and telephone and inputting data into the CAD program, this will aid the wider EOC to maximise the dispatch of available resources facilitating the delivery of good patient care.

You will be assisting our ambulance crews when they need a period of unavailability and will be responsible for applying the appropriate unavailability code as per the agreed process.

Main duties of the job

  • Management of Resource Availability 
  • Data collection regarding Hospital Performance
  • Data collection regarding barriers to timely care
  • Providing data regarding Intelligent Conveyance
  • Requesting and receiving data in a timely manor on a wide range of subjects from a wide range of recipients.  Initial interpretation of receive data and escalation of concerns. 
  • Use if the radio system, use of the telephone, use of computer software bespoke to the Emergency Operations Centre and Microsoft 365 products.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of four GCSE’s or equivalent at grade C / 5 or above including Math’s and English.
  • Level 4 qualification particularly in healthcare, science, data analysis or another relevant subject or equivalent
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable criteria
  • Trained in Op Titan
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Level 5 qualification
  • Experienced Dispatcher or EMD

Previous experience (Paid/Unpaid relevant to job)

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience gained call centre environment
  • Experience working in a high paced environment
  • Ability to learn new IT systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in the Delivery Cell environment (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience gained within an emergency service, particularly within a EOC environment.
