We have an exciting opportunity for a full time, office based Business Support Team Leader to join our friendly team working within the Single Point of Access (SPA) Team in Exeter.

Important Information Regarding Service Changes
We are currently entering into a formal consultation process to move all Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) staff to a single provider. As part of this process, staff currently employed by Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust will transfer to Devon Partnership NHS Trust on 1 April 2026. Please note that this may result in some differences in recruitment documentation and processes during this transition period.

 

Main duties of the job

Are you ready to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? We’re looking for a proactive and organised individual to play a key role within our Single Point of Access, overseeing a range of essential administrative functions—including call handling, mailbox management, referral processing and accurate data entry.

In this role, you’ll provide day-to-day line management for up to six team members while also managing your own administrative workload. If you enjoy leading others, staying organised and keeping operations running smoothly, we’d love to hear from you.

Position details:

  • Part-time: Three days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

  • Hours: 9am – 5pm

  • Location: Office-based

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide day to day line management of a team of up to eight direct reports.
  • Dealing with all management issues such as workload, performance, absence, annual leave, appraisals and all other HR issue which may arise
  • Oversight of your teams responsibilities which include data entry, referral management, call handling, generic mailbox management.
  • You will also support the SPA administrative duty function, which includes data validation.

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • GCSEs or equivalent
  • Relevant administrative or IT qualification e.g. ECDL, RSA, NVQ etc
  • Qualification in supervisory or line management or relevant experience to NVQ 4 or equivalent level
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience
  • Qualification in supervisory or line management or relevant experience

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Good knowledge of a wide range of office procedures
  • Clerical, administrative or reception experience
  • Experience in line management of administrative staff
  • Experience within a customer care, healthcare or social care setting
Desirable criteria
  • Good knowledge of a wide range of office procedures
  • Experience of dealing with difficult HR/staffing issues
  • Experience of Supervision of Staff
  • Experience of HR Processes
  • Experience in Minute Taking
