Job overview

This is a key role within the operations structure reporting directly to the Head of Operations and managing the 'Administration line' for the Gloucestershire County. 

The County Business Manager provides leadership to  administrative staff,  provide direct support to senior operational staff and provide a primary point of contact for staff working in other Directorates. The County Business Manager will act as the link between administrative functions at a County level and Trust HQ. 

Main duties of the job

  • Provide line management, direction, welfare and support. This includes undertaking career conversations, supporting staff health and wellbeing and all aspects of line management
  • Provide administrative expertise and guidance to the senior managers. This includes assisting in workload planning, helping to forecast forwards and assisting the Operations Officers in their day to day management role (particularly when they are acting as Lead Operations Officers in the County Hub/Office)
  • Coordinate the completion of patient experience investigations and feedback as required. Provides the Head of Operations with incident reporting assurance reports. Oversee the administrative support provided to investigations and complaints.
  • Lead on monitoring, reporting and where required, the chasing of outstanding career conversations. A key role will be in monitoring the booked appraisals to make sure that the County is ‘on the front foot’. This post is also responsible for working closely with colleagues in HR to maintain an accurate database for reporting purposes.

NHS employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement prior to applying. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term/secondment basis as it has been established to provide cover for an employee on maternity leave and will end when the substantive postholder returns, however you will be eligible to apply for any further vacancies within the trust.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level, or has demonstrable administrative experience
  • 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent including English

Previous experience (Paid/ Unpaid relevant to job)
