Job overview
We are looking to appoint a Specialty Registrar ST3-7 equivalent within the Women’s and Children’s Care Group, working in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service Lines. The candidates are expected to be good clinicians with evidence of obstetric and gynaecological practical skills across the speciality range.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the provision of general services in obstetrics and gynaecology for the population within the catchment area of Plymouth University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post carries a balanced job plan for the appointee. The successful candidate will participate in a full shift rota of Registrars & Consultants. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will provide care in specialist outpatient and inpatient services as appropriate, in addition to general obstetrics and gynaecology. There are opportunities to develop advanced techniques in one of the numerous subspecialty areas including labour ward management, aspects of feto-maternal medicine, early pregnancy, colposcopy, infertility or Urogynaecology. The precise nature of the post can be adapted depending upon the requirements of the successful applicant. This post also offers the opportunity to develop clinical and managerial skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Appropriate clinical responsibility for the care of patients delegated by the consultant to his/her charge. Co-responsibility for the proper functioning of the department, including supervision of more junior medical staff.
· Running of labour ward with consultant cover on site during the day, consultant off site after hours. ·
· Attendance at clinical meetings as appropriate.
· Working within the multidisciplinary team.
· Co-ordinating appropriate medical, surgical and allied disciplines concerned with patient care and communicating appropriately with general practitioners and community agencies.
· Clinic duties such as gynaecology and ante-natal clinics, theatre sessions and some specialist clinics.
