Pharmacy - Senior Pharmacy Support Assistant – CCMO

Job overview

To support the day to day activities within the Clinical Commissioning and Medicines Optimisation work streams.

To support aspects of strategic development, efficacies, and improvement across the service.

To support data gathering across all Clinical Commissioning and Medicines Optimisation work streams.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

Immunoglobulins

To support the management of supplies to Immunology including transcriptions.

To support stock control and waste management.

To support entering data onto the national database.

Complete checks for trough levels, dose changes and SRIAP approvals.

Updating relevant databases.

Completing training sessions for peers.

Blueteq

To ensure funding compliance with Blueteq approvals and support the Blueteq audit tool.

FIPS

Supporting reporting for Financial improvement programmes.

Supporting biosimilar switches.

Free of Charge Schemes

To support the ordering and supply of free of charge medication.

To support stock control and waste management.

Other

Maintain supply competencies and support late night, weekend and bank holiday working.

FP10 data monitoring.

Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Immunoglobulins

·       To support the Senior Pharmacy Technician - CCMO in managing all charts received into the CCMO Office for Immunoglobulin supplies for the Immunology Team.

·       To deal with the Immunology clinical team for any discrepancies with orders to ensure resolution for supplies to be made.

·       To support the transcription of all Immunology Immunoglobulin orders onto one stop dispensing order forms.

·       To complete the weekly Immunoglobulin stock check report and highlight any discrepancies or short dated stock to the Senior Pharmacy Technician - CCMO.

·       To ensure stock rotation is managed efficiently.

·       Ensure accurate documentation for dose changes, product changes and trough levels are recorded on the national and internal databases.

·       To complete SRIAP approval checks and highlight any that are overdue or missing to Senior Pharmacy Technician - CCMO.

·       To enter infusion data onto the National Immunoglobulin Database.

·       To request trough levels from the clinical team and update them onto the National Immunoglobulin Database.

·       To process any Immunoglobulin returns on the EMIS system and the National Immunoglobulin Database.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 (A-C) in English, Maths and 3 others
  • NVQ level 3 in relevant subject
  • Or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Desirable criteria
  • • Equivalent to GCSE or above in IT related subject

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Demonstrable experience of using a variety of IT sources.
Desirable criteria
  • • Demonstrable experience in a medical or health related environment
  • • Good understanding of Good Distribution Practices.
  • • Demonstrable experience of audit work

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • • Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
  • • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in a busy environment.
Desirable criteria
  • • An interest in developing services.
  • • An interest in improvement work.
