Job overview

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHPNT) wishes to appoint a Locum Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine. This is a new locum post to cover an initial 12-month period, with a view to becoming a substantive post thereafter, to help our current establishment of physicians meet the demands of an increasing in- and out-patient workload, and to contribute to the development of a forward-thinking and ambitious department. This specific post will also help facilitate the continued introduction of the Targeted Lung Health Check programme across our catchment population in Devon and Cornwall.   

Main duties of the job

The employer is University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, with the post description and responsibilities below being based on a whole-time appointment. The model job plan is based on a full-time appointment of 10 PAs. Trust policy is for job plans to be based on 8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA, although up to one further SPA may be agreed within this during the job plan review process, depending on departmental and/or care group needs. The average maximum weekly programmed activities for direct clinical care will not exceed 8.5 PA unless by prior mutual agreement.

Teaching

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience and ability in teaching

  • Attended appropriate courses / meetings in the last 6 years covering the spectrum of the entire specialty
  • Evidence of ability to perform advanced invasive procedures as appropriate
