Specialist Radiographer: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

NHS AfC: Band 6

Trosolwg o'r swydd

This is a training role for Radiographers keen to move into MRI, including those graduating in 2025. Starting at band 5, you will automatically move to band 6 upon completion of training, after satisfactory completion of competencies (approx. 6/8 months). Once training is complete, you will become a band 6 specialist MRI Radiographer, delivering a quality-led, caring and timely MRI service. The MRI department provides a supportive environment with a focus on patient care, safe and quality practice, and staff well-being.

Our MRI department has two 3T Siemens Vida MRI scanners, a 1.5T Siemens Sola, two 1.5T Philips Ingenia scanners, and in 2026 we will add 2 x 1.5T GE Voyager AIR scanners, which you would rotate through. We perform a wide range of MRI examinations including abdominal, pelvic, cardiac, breast, musculoskeletal, neuroimaging, fMRI, paediatric and GA patients.

Our scanners operate extended days and weekends, with an out-of-hours (nights and bank holidays) on-call commitment from home.

There is a CPD calendar with active participation from staff, and we support and encourage radiographers in career development, including post-graduate study. Several MRI Radiographers comment on orbit radiographs, there are reporting Radiographers, and an advanced Cardiac MRI practitioner.

We also work in partnership with the Brain Research Imaging Centre (BRIC), which contains a 3T Siemens Prisma scanner we operate for both clinical work and alongside academics involved in research.
