Community Phlebotomist

The Coastal District Nurse team are recruiting a permanent Band 2 Phlebotomist to work part time  (30 hours/week Monday-Friday 9am -3pm) in our Health and Well-Being Team.

Working as a Phlebotomist within an integrated team will result in you working across the community this includes: Community Nursing, Intermediate Care and Community Matrons.

You will be delivering high quality care to housebound patients across the Teignmouth and Dawlish locality, work as part of multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with primary and secondary care.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Demonstrate an awareness of physical, psycho-social, cultural and environmental needs of patients and their family/carer when in patient’s homes
  • To obtain high quality blood samples from patients in the home environment
  • Responsible for planning and organising own day to day work tasks and activities within an occasionally unpredictable environment
  • To perform simple nursing procedures after a period of training/supervision from a Registered Nurse
  • To work independently and as part of a team, participating in team development when required

  • To consistently produce high quality blood samples with the minimum of discomfort and disturbance to the patient
  • To function as part of the Community Nurse Team
  • To observe a personal duty of care in relation to equipment and resources used in course of work
  • Providing healthcare visits to the housebound service users within Coastal locality. Attending to health needs of those patients, documenting and if necessary, escalating appropriately. Therefore, it would be beneficial if you have access to your own vehicle and a valid licence to be insured.
