Job overview

Our Clerical Officer - Radiology, will be responsible for supporting the smooth efficient running of Radiology call centre, enabling high standards of care for our service users.

 

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working with Radiologists, Radiographers and Nurses in all areas of the Directorate. The primary role for this post is supporting the Radiology booking processes for patients referred for diagnostic imaging. There may the a requirement to cover elsewhere in the Radiology Admin team where. While responsibility lies with clinical staff, this role can have impact on patient care.

    • To consistently provide highly efficient Radiology booking services.
    • To understand relevant processes that support our patients and other service users in management of referrals for diagnostic imaging including but not limited to:
      • processing new referrals from all sources,
      • booking appointments into diary slots,
      • cancelling and re-arranging appointments. 
    • Managing patient appointment and queries using the call centre telephony system.
    • Demonstrating exemplary use of the radiology IT systems to ensure that patient records are always accurate.
    • Contributing to team discussions in a constructive and flexible way.

About your new team and department

 

Our Radiology Clerical Officers work in 2 main areas:

 

-       Radiology Call Centre (this post) managing patient appointments

-       Radiology Office managing provision of acute services and general Radiology admin tasks.

 

The Call Centre has 10 Clerical officers and 3 supervisors, they manage in the region of 75,000 patient appointments in a year.

 

The Call Centre admin team are responsible for booking Radiology Outpatient appointments.  Successful candidates must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent prioritisation and time management skills and will have the ability to cope with complex situations.
