An exciting opportunity for a SACT Co-ordinator (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) has arisen, we are looking for a candidate that is motivated, enthusiastic and has a professional and friendly manner to join our busy team  based at Torbay Hospital’s Ricky Grant Day Unit.  

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care during their cancer treatment journey.

As a SACT Coordinator, you will be at the heart of our Oncology and Haematology services, responsible for booking chemotherapy appointments, and providing essential support to our patients.

You will be the bridge that connects patients to their life-saving treatments, ensuring they receive the care they need with compassion and efficiency.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide comprehensive and high-quality administrative support to the chemotherapy co-ordination team ensuring an effective and efficient service is delivered.
  • To schedule the timely delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapy treatment and supporting therapy, adhering to national and local protocols and ensuring cancer treatment waiting time targets are achieved.
  • To sensitively relay appointment and other pertinent details to patients and carers who may be fearful, aggressive, or have physical/mental disabilities which may make communication difficult. This communication may be both face to face or by telephone.
  • To participate in the telephone triage process by accepting initial calls from patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

The SACT Team is based at Torbay Hospital on the Ricky Grant day unit and is made up of 3 Chemotherapy Co-Ordinator's and 5 Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma level qualification in business administration

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Experience working in a customer/patient contact role
Desirable criteria
  • Good working knowledge of Hospital systems eg IHCS, Infoflex, Chemocare,
  • Experience working in a NHS or healthcare setting
  • Experience within a Cancer healthcare setting
