Job overview

The post holder will provide high quality professional leadership and oversight of clinical and operational management to deliver the commissioned public health nursing services (Health Visiting and School Nursing). The role focuses on reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for all children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

·       The post holder will lead on the clinical delivery of the 0 to 19 Torbay service, providing specialist education and training to staff to ensure that they develop and deliver in accordance with national best practice and service standards.

·       The post holder will work in collaboration with divisional, organisational and external partners to provide assurance that robust systems of governance and performance are in place and that high quality client care is being developed and delivered safely.

·       They will ensure a robust approach to safeguarding and lead on the implementation of nursing strategies and policies. The post holder will establish and maintain health visiting professional networks both locally and nationally, ensuring the Trust are fully aware of current professional issues.

·       The Professional Lead will provide expert advice develop strategy and implement policy and measure outcomes to assure the quality and safety of nursing practice.

·       The post holder will work with commissioners to ensure compliance of the contract key performance indicators.

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse and specialist qualification in Health Visiting or School Nursing on part 1 & 3 of NMC register
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in related subject or able able to demonstrate ability to work at master’s level.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • SCPHN Practice Teacher Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Solihull Foundation Course
  • Newborn hearing screening module
  • Mentor qualification active on Trust database
  • Coaching course completed
  • V150 or V300 Prescriber
