Job overview

We are looking for an experienced dosimetrist to join our friendly multi-professional radiotherapy team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.  We deliver a range of techniques, including Lung and Bone SABR and we are actively engaged in both commercial and non-commercial research trials.

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic and experienced in treatment planning and the introduction of new techniques, clinical trials and paper light workflows.  We have an exciting few years ahead of us in purchasing and commissioning a new treatment planning system, of which you will be part of the project team.

You will be joining our caring, committed, and innovative team in beautiful South Devon where we value work-life balance.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be expected to provide an efficient, effective and timely treatment planning service in accordance with the departmental protocols and procedures.
  • You will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of treatment plans for a range of body-sites, including outlining (or checking automated AI outlines) of organs at risk, following site-specific clinical treatment protocols.
  • You will be responsible for the palliative radiotherapy pre-treatment calculations and data entry.
  • You will liaise and work with the treatment radiographers in problem solving complex treatment set-ups or issues as they arise and help produce guidance for IGRT when required.
  • You will be supported with on-going professional development and in maintaining your own portfolio of practice.
  • You will also contribute to maintaining the radiotherapy BSI accreditation and ensure that all patients receive an outstanding quality service.

Working for our organisation

We are friendly multi-professional team and staff often comment on the kindness and professionalism of our team.

Our department comprising of two matched VERSA Elekta Linacs, Mosaiq Oncology Management System, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System (TPS), Limbus AI OAR outlining software and Canon Aquilion CT Scanner.

The department actively participates in clinical trials, and we ensure early adoption of changes to standard of care of radiotherapy to ensure our local population receive the most current treatment available.

We support continuous professional development for all staff.  We are invested in ensuring you have the right skills and knowledge to perform your role and ensure you are upskilled and prepared for future changes in service delivery.

Our exciting plans include implementing SGRT (now installed on both linacs and CT), implementation of abdominal compression, upgrading our current version of Mosaiq, implementation of EPIC and the commissioning of a new TPS. Long term plans will involve preparing for back-to-back Linac replacement programs.
