Job overview
Our Ward clerk / Receptionist within our SRU department will provide high quality administrative reception and ward-clerk support across the surgical receiving unit, being the first point of contact for the patients and relatives on arrival.

Working for our organisation
The Surgical Receiving Unit (SRU) is a new unit within Torbay Hospital that takes patients directly referred from GPs, the Emergency Department and clinics.
We provide assessment for numerous surgical specialities including Urology, Orthopaedics and ENT. SRU is a fast-paced environment where every member of the MDT supports each other and are valued.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide reception service for all patients and visitors to the ward including sickness and annual leave cover. Some flexibility required
- This includes filing in hospital notes and filing of notes
- Ensure that the patient hospital computer systems are kept up to date
- Support the ward and clinical staff in a range of administration tasks
- To ensure that all Discharge Summaries are completed and sent out in line with Trust policy
- Excellent organisational skills required

Person specification
ESSENTIAL
Essential criteria
- 4 GCSE or equivalent
- reception skills
- Knowledge of PAS
- • To be able to communicate/interact effectively daily with patients, visitors and hospital staff both over the telephone and on a one-to-one basis
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Medical Records
